This is how my luck runs.

So, I work twelve hour shifts almost every day, so when I get home from work, I’m pretty beat and just want to go to bed. Well, this certainly did not happen last night.
The last few months have been pretty financially heartbreaking, as I’m trying to support to people on a wage that isn’t even able to support one. With that being said, My rent was due last week, and to be honest, I just don’t have the money until this coming Wednesday, so I couldn’t send out the check.
I got home last night, and everything was fine until I turned on the water to do some dishes. The water was fine for a moment, and my brother (who is staying with me) took over washing the dishes while I, went on the computer to play games. All of the sudden I hear this massive spraying, and I didn’t think too much of it until my brother started yelling out in pain and ran into the living room soaked with water. I immediately burst out of my chair and looked in the kitchen to see scalding hot water SHOOTING out of a hole in the wall under the sink.
A pvc pipe connected to the wall had cracked and burst and decided that instead of just shooting cold water out, it would should hot water out and fog up the kitchen and flood the floors with dangerously hot liquid. (We finally managed to get it to stop by turning OFF the hot water)
My reaction to the situation was to start crying and fretting, since I thought I was going to have to call an emergency plumber right away, etc. and since I don’t have a single dollar to my name right now, you can imagine my frustration.
Because it was almost midnight, I couldn’t exactly call my little ‘ol landlady who, I’m sure, had been asleep since 8:00pm, and explain to her the situation, especially if I hadn’t paid my rent when it was due.
So the next best thing came around and I called my dad, who was out celebrating his birthday. When I heard his voice the tears just started flowing and I explained what happened.
Through the phone came his calm voice, “Don’t worry, we’ll (meaning my mom and him) come up to your house tomorrow, and we’ll get it taken care of. Don’t worry about the money.”
So with that taken care of, I called work next. I was practically sobbing, so I’m not even sure if my boss heard me when I said I couldn’t come into work today because a pipe burst and I had to be available for when the plumber/parents got to my house.

So the next day comes, (this morning), and it’s time to call my landlady to let her know of what happened.
I called her, and pretty much grovelled my way through the phone call, let her know I would have her rent to her on Wednesday, and she said she would send her brother over to fix the pipe and have it taken care of.

SO, all in all, a really long story to see just how my luck goes. The first time I’m late on my rent, a pipe burst and I HAVE to call my landlord.
